This summer, Jeff Olimpo and I would like to get a reading group together to look at issues of representation writ broadly. We're both interested in it as a field of study, and once Discourse Analysis ends I think there will be opportunities for new reading groups to start. We're thinking of something informal, but where we can do deep reads. So, I'm imagining just one paper per meeting, possibly two. Some topics we both seem to be interested in, in no order (hierarchical or otherwise):
- Diagrammatic Reasoning
- Metarepresentational Competence
- Representations in technoscientific practice
If it makes sense for the group structure and aims, it'd be awesome to share data too. But we're just trying to poll for interest right now. Would anyone be interested in being part of such a group? Or, even if you'd rather not come to readings, it'd be wonderful if you could contribute to a pooled list of readings you think might be relevant. To contribute, click here. No sign-in should be required, but sometimes Google is weird.
