Instructions for Personal Page setup

Page history last edited by Ayush Gupta 15 years, 9 months ago

Hi all,

This really might not be necesary - but anyways some instructions, in case they are needed.

It would be great if every member of the group at least set up a personal profile page - even better if that was supplemented with pages on ongoing research and projects etc.

Here's how to set up your personal page.

1. You would need to set up a pbwiki account - which is surprisingly fast actually, unlike many other sites. Just click on 'login to edit' and then to set up an account.

2. Now click on "Create a page".

2a. In the menu that comes up, give a name to your page (First-Name Last-Name  for the profile page)

2b. Choose the Personal Profile Template

     2c. Create

3. Add the information in the template. Add a picture (please). The main headings I provided are only the basic ones to get you started.

4. Click on "Save" and Voila - your page is created!

5. Now from the main page or from the side bar, click on "People". You should see your name listed under one of the headings.

5a. Select your name (Of course, after clicking on the EDIT tab)

5b. On the right hand side, you will see a list of the wiki pages with the heading (insert link to a new page). Click on the page with your name (the page that you just saved).

5c. Your name on the 'People' page should have become a link.

     5d. Save!

(Alternatively, you can select  your name on the People-page, and click on the "globe-clip icon" on top. From the drop down menu that appears, select to link to your personal profile page; The drop down menu also offers choices to link to an Email or URL)

That's it! Your personal page is created and linked. Feel free to add pages about your research. Just make sure that these are properly linked to your personal page or other appropriate places.

Please do let me know in case you have questions.

Have fun.

Ayush
