Using the Conference System in Toll 1324

Page history last edited by Brandon James Johnson 6 years, 4 months ago

The conference system in the Toll 1324 has two components:

1. The TV with remote

2. The Logitech video conferencing system

Note: except for using the HDMI cable if you are using your laptop, you should not have to do any hardware re-wiring. In fact, please don't rewire anything.

If you are holding a meeting in the room, but will NOT be using any videoconferencing, you have the following two options for projecting your presentation to the TV:

  1. Connect your personal computer to the TV via the HDMI cord and use the TV remote to switch the input to HDMI 2.  Instructions for switching TV inputs:
    1. Press the "home" button on the TV to go to home-menu;
    2. Press the right (purple button on remote) to select HDMI 2;
    3. Press "OK" to select;
    4. Proceed with presenting from your laptop and adjust the "display setting" on your laptop as you like it.  You may also need to change the volume of the TV using the side buttons on the TV remote.
    5. Note: using this method, you will not be connected to the conference system as it connected to the Mac Mini exclusively.
  2. Use the Mac Mini connected to the TV and access your presentation via a USB stick, SD card, or the internet (Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, One Drive, etc.)
    1. Follow the above instructions for switching TV inputs, but select "Computer" instead of HDMI 2;
    2. Using the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse on the table, log into the account "Ayush" using password "asdf&*123";
    3. Access your presentation from the source(s) of your choosing.

If you will be using video conferencing, then it is highly recommended to use option 2 above, using the Mac Mini.  To use the Mac Mini for video conferencing:

    1. Follow the above steps for option 2 to use the Mac Mini
    2. Use Safari browser for webex; or skype installed there; //It's a normal mac; in coming days, Ayush will install Webex, Hangouts, Chrome, Office, etc on that computer//
    3. Make sure that video conference software settings use the Logitech system mic, speakers, and camera; //already hardware integrated//
    4. Use the remote of the logitech system to pan/tilt/zoom the camera to your liking.

As mentioned above, if projecting from your personal computer, you will not be connected to conference system, so sound will come out of the built-in TV speakers.  Additionally, you will need an external mic if videoconferencing this way.  Finally, note that if projecting using your personal computer and the HDMI 2 input, the TV has a 4K display which may put a heavy load on your personal computer especially if you intend to be running a video conferencing program, presentation program, and video playing program.
