My CV

About Me:

I graduated in 2007 from Brandeis University with a degrees in Math and Physics, and a minor in secondary education.  After graduation I taught high school physics for a year in Massachusetts.  I'm currently a fifth year graduate student in physics with the Physics Education Research Group at Maryland.  I work mostly with Andy Elby and Ayush Gupta.

What I'm Working On:

  • How students blend conceptual reasoning with mathematical equations in physics.
  • The dynamics of students' reasoning and how those dynamics are connected to students' epistemological stances.
  • How disciplinary differences in purpose and context of approximations can lead to differences in how students approach approximation problems in math and physics.

The Latest Things:

Kuo, E., Hull, M.M., Gupta, A., and Elby, A. (2013) How student blend conceptual and formal mathematical reasoning in solving physics problems. Science Education, 97(1), 32-57.
